Friends of Chard School

Chard School has a very active and enthusiastic 'Friends' organisation, which organises a diverse range of social and fund-raising activities throughout the year.

Amongst many items purchased for the School in recent years, the Adventure Playground has proved a huge success with all the pupils, as has the redevelopment of the playground area. This has included a custom-built sandpit, playground markings, a covered seating area and, most recently, new picnic
tables.   The Friends are currently raising funds to upgrade the adventure playground, add safety matting, and are looking into the possibility of buying a concrete table-tennis table.

Money has also been used to upgrade drama facilities, with the installation of a lighting bar, additional lights and control console and scenery backcloths for the stage.  Following the refurbishment of the Chapel, the Friends have provided audio-visual presentation equipment, including projector, screens and speakers. The Art, Games and Music departments have also benefitted, with new equipment and new instruments supplied by Friends money, and the Library continues to receive money to purchase new books.

News of forthcoming 'Friends' events can be found listed on the Calendar page. Copies of the Friends newsletter can also be found at the bottom of this page.
