Appearance and School Uniform
APPEARANCE AND SCHOOL UNIFORM
The Uniform List shows the uniform that pupils are expected to wear. This is available at the school, in the prospectus or on the school website (www.chardschool.ik.org).- All items that come into school should be clearly named.
- Pupils should come to school smartly dressed, with blazers and clean shoes.
- Hair - long hair (boys and girls) should be tied back at all times, using a bottle green hair band, or head band. Hair should be tidy at all times.
- Nits - unfortunately these are relatively common among young children. Parents should regularly check their child's hair and act accordingly. Please inform the headmaster if nits are discovered, so that classes can be informed. Further information on the treatment of nits is available on request.
- Nail varnish - this is not allowed.
- Earrings - the only ones allowed are small studs for pierced ears.
- New ties, games socks, book bags, scarves, waterproof fleeces and blazer badges are available for sale from the Bursar at school. Knitted bobble hats are also available from the School (knitted to order).
- Summer dresses are available from the Schools Department at "The Famous", Cheltenham. Details are on the uniform list, or on the school website.
- Most clothing is available second-hand from the School (Wednesdays 8.45 - 9.15am).
- Pupils may go home in school games kit, if they have had a games lesson in the afternoon or an after-school sports club.
- Pupils may not go home in anything other than uniform or games kit, without permission from the Headmaster.
- Trainers must be worn on the astroturf. Trainers may not be worn in lessons with school uniform.
- Mouthguards - all Junior pupils should have fitted mouthguards and they should be encouraged to wear them for hockey and rugby in particular.
- Shin pads - the wearing of these is encouraged for soccer and hockey.
Lost Property
- There are 'Lost Property Lockers' in both the boys and girls changing Rooms for Junior pupils.
- Other lost property may be put on the chest in Monmouth Hall or on the chest outside the Cerdic Room.
Hot Weather
- Caps, for protection against the sun, may be worn in hot weather.
- Sun cream may be used to protect against the sun.
- Summer rig - no ties - may be introduced, on a day-to-day basis, after Assembly, by the Headmaster.
- Sandals - these are not officially on the clothing list, but may be acceptable in hot weather.
