Complaints Procedure
CHARD SCHOOL - COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE
The Headmaster has the overall responsibility for the day to day running of the school. However, this policy outlines how any parent with concerns about their child, or the school in general, should proceed:1. The first point of reference is the class teacher.
2. If necessary, the parent should then discuss the matter with the Headmaster.
3. If they do not receive a satisfactory response, they should write to the Chairman of Governors, Mr Graham Chamberlain JP at:
Fairview Cottage
4 West End Lane
Warfield
Berks
RG42 5RH
4. The Chairman will discuss the matter with the Headmaster.
5. Following those discussions, the matter will, if necessary, be considered at a hearing, before a panel of at least three people who have not been directly involved in previous consideration of the complaint.
6. Where a panel hearing is convened, one person on the panel must be independent of the management and running of the School. The Chairman of the Governors will be responsible for the appointment of the panel. The procedure will set out clear timetables for the management of the complaint, ie. providing adequate notice of the hearing, etc.
7. Parents will be allowed to attend, and be accompanied at a panel hearing, if they wish.
8. The panel will make findings and recommendations and ensure that the complainant, Governors, Headmaster and, where relevant, the person complained about, are given a copy of any findings and recommendations.
9. Written records will be kept of all complaints and their outcomes, whether they are resolved at the preliminary stage, when a complaint is submitted in writing or whether they proceed to a panel hearing.
10. All correspondence, statements and records of complaints will be kept confidential, but will be shown to HMI/ISI when they inspect. Copies will also be made available to the Registration Authority on request.
