Welcome to Chard School

Chard School is a small, non-selective, independent co-educational day prep school for 4-11 year olds, with an educational Nursery for 2-4 year olds, situated in the historic Somerset town of Chard . It is the only independent school in Chard, attracting pupils from over a fifteen mile radius, including the towns of Axminster, Ilminster and Crewkerne.

Throughout the school, the needs of the individual child are recognised and catered for by a team of enthusiastic and well-qualified teachers. It provides academic excellence from its Educational Nursery to Key Stage 2, and although emphasis is placed on numeracy and literacy, the curriculum is extensive and varied, with small classes throughout.

Chard School aims to produce a happy, caring environment, which encourages the pursuit of excellence and enables each pupil to develop his or her skills. The traditional values of hard work, good manners and discipline are encouraged throughout, and an excellent relationship exists between pupils and teachers.
